Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Are you and your partner thinking of eloping and planning a destination wedding? This blog post will give you the Destination Wedding Planning Tips.  A two part post that will teach you helpful tips and tricks to planning a destination wedding.  It will also help aid you in the process of booking me as your Destination Wedding Photographer. Let’s start with the steps you need to take when you are early in the planning process.

Choosing the type of Destination Wedding

Most but not all destination weddings I have photographed have been a very intimate group of the couple’s closest friends and family. I have photographed weddings from 15 guests to 150 that have all flown in to celebrate with the couple. Once you have decided the type of destination wedding you will be having you can then move on to choosing a location.

Location Location

Brides Magazine suggests, when deciding on a destination remember to keep in mind that it must be safe and have all the resources you need. Bride’s magazine suggests the unique destination to have a wedding. That charming beach town where you spent your childhood summers won’t work if it can’t accommodate all your guests.  When choosing a location it is important that you consider all travel requirements and permits that may be required for the location you are choosing. Questions you might ask yourself is do your guests need a passport to travel.  If you are getting married in a National Park there may be a permit required to get married.

Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Consider Local Marriage Requirements

Are you thinking about Eloping in a Foreign Destination Wedding? You will want to do your research about marriage requirements in the country you are thinking about getting married. A good place to start is at the US.gov under their marriage abroad you can find this site HERE. Another option could be that you could get married in the states at a local courthouse and then have a ceremony over there and celebrate with your guests.

Helping your Guests

Chances are your guests are traveling a great distance to be a part of your celebration.  A helpful guide of local lodging and attractions they can see while they are there.  Chances are they are going to make a trip out of it so this list of activities will be very helpful for them.

Hopefully you have found these Destination Wedding Planning Tips helpful if you are thinking about planning a destination wedding.  This is the first post in a series of posts that will help you with tips for your Destination Wedding no matter where you are planning your wedding. Some of my bucket Destination Wedding locations are. Ireland, Bora Bora, Banff National Park and the remote shores of Italy on the Amalfi Coast.
